Northstone began in 2017. Curran Edland joined the company in 2019 and purchased it in the winter of 2021. His longtime friend Thomas Clark joined the team the following year and later became chief operating officer. Together they grew a business doing a few installs a year to twenty-five to thirty, more than a hundred systems in all, designed and installed by their own crew. The two people on this page design your system, lead the crew that installs it, and answer the phone about it afterward.

The people who will be on your roof
Curran Edland
Owner and CEO
Curran is a sixth-generation Montanan and a 2013 Whitefish High School graduate. He studied mechanical engineering at Robert Morris University, including a term in Germany focused on the country’s green-energy economy.
After returning to the valley, Curran worked as a sustainability consultant with Montana Energy Corps, helped develop the Whitefish School District energy plan, and contributed to the Whitefish Climate Action Plan. He joined Northstone as operations manager in 2019 and bought the company two years later.
Outside Northstone, he assistant-coaches the Whitefish Bulldogs boys soccer team.
Thomas Clark
COO
Thomas graduated from Whitefish High School with Curran in 2013 and earned a degree in sustainability studies from The Evergreen State College. During college he interned at an ecovillage in southern Iceland.
He worked as a soccer journalist before joining the Northstone team in 2022, and later became COO. Thomas works across customer proposals, project operations, and the financial-assistance side of the business.
Thomas also coaches the Columbia Falls girls varsity soccer team, which won the state title in 2025, the same season he was named Regional Coach of the Year.
