Residential solar installation in the Flathead Valley

Own the power your house runs on. A rooftop or ground‑mount system sized to cover a full year of what your home uses, so the utility’s rate stops being your problem.

Every month the power bill comes, and every year it is a little higher. Flathead Electric raised rates 5.5 percent in June 2026. Solar on your roof turns that around. You make your own electricity at a fixed cost per kilowatt-hour under the utility’s rate, and it stays there while theirs keeps climbing. Once the system is paid off, the power it makes is free, year after year.

We size it from twelve months of your real power bills, not an averaged guess, to cover 100 percent of what your house uses over the year, July and January both. Enphase microinverters go on every panel, so each one works on its own and the system is ready for a battery whenever you want one. Add the battery and the lights, the well pump, and the furnace fan stay on when the line goes down.

Our own crew designs it, installs it, and services it. Northstone has put in more than a hundred systems between the North Fork and Libby since 2017, every review Northstone has on Google is five stars, and labor and every piece of equipment carry a warranty.

Sized for the Flathead Valley, twelve months of it

A Whitefish roof makes about three times more power in July than in December. The design expects that. Sizing on the whole year, not just July, is why the system covers the house in February too.

Questions about residential solar

Does solar make sense through a Montana winter?
Yes. A Whitefish roof makes about three times more power in July than in December, so we size the system on the whole year. Panels shed snow on a pitched roof, and your utility credits what you send back. Winter is in the math from day one.
Is it still worth it now that the federal credit ended?
Yes, and for the reason that was always the real one. The 30% federal residential credit ended for systems placed in service after December 31, 2025. Some sites still advertise it; we do not. What you buy solar for is the rate: a fixed cost per kilowatt‑hour under the utility’s that never rises, and free power once the system is paid off. Montana’s 3.5% AERLP loan and the ten‑year property tax exemption still stand, and the proposal shows the payback so you decide with the numbers in front of you.
How do you size a system?
From twelve months of your actual power bills, not an average for a house your size. We design to cover 100% of what your home uses over the year, and you see the production numbers before anything is ordered.
How would we pay for it?
Most homeowners use the state’s AERLP loan (3.5% fixed, up to $40,000, no down payment, quarterly application windows) or Clearwater Credit Union’s solar loan; we have also worked with Whitefish Credit Union and Glacier Bank. The bill you already pay the utility becomes the payment on something you own.
Who installs it, and who fixes it later?
Our own crew designs it and installs it, and Northstone services what it installs. Northstone has put in more than a hundred systems between the North Fork and Libby since 2017, every Google review is five stars, and labor and every piece of equipment carry a warranty.

Send twelve months of bills and we will size a system to them.
